BRAVE NEW WORLD 2025
On Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, the worlds of art, culture, philosophy, science, technology and storytelling come together! What ethical and social impact can new technologies have on human life?
The future of optimism and resilience
A decade of courageous conversations
This year marks the 10th edition of the Brave New World Conference, a milestone in our ongoing exploration of the future. Over the past decade, we have addressed pressing issues such as intelligence, disinformation, war, attention, and AI - topics that are more relevant today than ever before. Many of the warnings and predictions from previous discussions have become reality and have shaped the world we live in today.
Yet, true to our spirit, we continue to look ahead. In these uncertain times, we turn our attention to optimism: how it works, how people endure despite setbacks, and what a realistic, resilient, optimistic vision of the future might look like amid ongoing rapid technological change. We welcome several Brave New World alumni back to the stage, along with new voices who will guide us through the themes of optimism and resilience.
New format
As we celebrate our tenth edition this year, we are shaking things up a bit and trying a new approach. Instead of a two-day conference, we are organizing a one-day event with an extra special evening program on Thursday, September 18. Details about this evening program will be announced soon and conference ticket holders will get priority registration.
With great thanks to Naturalis for its hospitality in recent years, we will also be changing locations. The new surroundings of Scheltema Leiden, a former Leiden cloth factory in the city center, will bring new energy to our anniversary event.
Brave New World Conference
Brave New World is an annual Art & Science conference for people who want to know what the future holds and how it will affect their businesses, policies and lives. On Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, the worlds of culture, philosophy, science, technology and storytelling collide. We want to discuss what ethical and social impact new technologies might have on human life before the innovations are introduced into society.
