On September 14, a panel discussion on the future of culture and science in Europe will be held in Leiden, in cooperation with the European Parliament.
Together with MEPs, scientists and other experts, we will explore how Europe is doing in the field of culture and science.
Culture and science are crucial not only for the freedom and resilience of the European Union, but also for its global competitiveness, prosperity and well-being. We should never take this for granted. It is therefore imperative that we continue to nurture the open, international and collaborative nature of science and culture. But how do we achieve this? Can we set a common course for culture and science in Europe, or are the differences between member states so great that we are better off addressing these issues at the national or even regional level? And what is the role of scientists, citizens and young people?
Participating in the conversation are:
Representative of the European Parliament (o.v.)
Ivo van Vulpen
Extraordinary Professor of Science Communication, in particular concerning physics
Margaret Gold
Citizen Science Lead within the Open Science Program of Leiden University
Frans Willem Korsten
Professor of Literature, Culture and Law
